圣诗分享（十二）---《我们聚集生命河边》（Shall We Gather at the River）
赞美诗《我们聚集生命河边》（Shall We Gather at the River）的创作过程。
1864年7月的一个下午，天气闷热难耐。纽约布鲁克林汉森广场浸信会牧师罗伯特·洛瑞（Robert Lowry）躺在休息室的一张长椅上，身体疲惫不堪。他几乎无法活动身体，但他的想象力却开始飞翔，未来的景象栩栩如生在他眼前闪过。《启示录》中那壮美的场景，以画面的形式呈现在他眼前：神耀眼的宝座、那天上的河流，众圣徒的聚集。当他在七月闷热的空气中急促地呼吸时，他的灵魂似乎从那神圣的景象中获得了新的生命。他开始思索，为什么赞美诗的作者对 “死亡之河” 说了那么多，却对那 “一道生命水的河，明亮如水晶，从神和羔羊的宝座流出来” （启22:1）说的是那么地少。1
在他沉思时，歌词开始自行构思，首先是以基督徒常见的询问出现：“我们会聚集吗？”然后是齐声的合唱，作为基督信仰的回答：“是的，我们会聚集。”赞美诗就是在这样一问一答的基础上发展起来的。乐曲也伴随着诗词而来，作者甚至分不清诗词与乐曲诞生的先后，它们就像是双胞胎一样。当歌曲构思出来后，作者跳了起来，坐在风琴旁完整弹奏一遍，唱出第一节歌词与副歌部分，然后他把全部歌词完整写了出来。1

1、上主座前生命河边，圣洁天使都来临，不息水流晶亮似银，我羡慕在彼唱吟。2
2、银光闪闪生命河边，美好景致映眼帘，圣徒聚集赞叹欢庆，在主荣耀宝座前。3
3、来到福地生命河边，累人重担先卸抛，我灵蒙救投主怀抱，得赐冠冕和义袍。
4、救主临在生命河边，佳美容颜照水面，死亡毒钩永不再现，圣徒铭记主恩典。4
5、转瞬到彼生命河畔，居住福地乐无彊，和平音乐歌声响亮，我主救恩永颂扬。
